Alka Lamba returns without questioning by Ropar police, Congress workers hold dharna

ROPAR: Delhi Congress leader Alka Lamba today returned without questioning by police in a criminal conspiracy case registered against her at Sadar Police station Rupnagar.

Hundreds of Congress workers throng the SSP office and sit in dharna in protest against a case registered against Alka Lamba. The protestors even broke the glass of the entry gate of the SSP office.

Accompanied by senior Congress leaders of Punjab including PPCC president Raja Amarindeh Warring, the Delhi Congress leader went to the SSP office in a mini secretariat. However, the SSP told her to go to Sadar Police station where an FIR has been lodged.

Alka Lamba was escorted to Sadar Police station where she was made to sit for over an hour. She was told by SP Harjit Singh Atwal who heads the SIT that they can't question her today because her case file has been summoned by Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court was hearing a petition filed by Kumar Vishwas, a co-accused in this. Atwal said that she would be given another date to appear before SIT.

Alka Lmba said that it was sheer harassment that she was called to give a statement but she kept waiting in the police station.

Other Congress leaders accompanied Alka Lamba included PPCC working presidents Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Raj Kumar Chabewal, former ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Balbir Singh Sidhu, , Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukh Sarkaria, Gurkirat Singh Kotli, former speaker Rana KP Singh, CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa and Youth Congress president Barinder Dhillon.

Navjot Sidhu also visited the site of dharna by Congress workers but didnt participate.
