CHANDIGARH: All India Congress Committee (AICC) has called an emergency meeting of Punjab Congress Legislative Party(CLP) without any agenda. The decision has raised many speculations about the fate of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The meeting was called in an unusual way. Harish Rawat AICC General Secretary incharge of Punjab made the announcement at midnight with a tweet informing the MLAs to be present in CLP meeting at 5 PM in Congress Bhawan on September 18. The CLP meeting is usually called by the CLP leader, presently Capt Amarinder Singh.

Harish Rawat has informed that AICC has received repersentation from large number of party MLAs to call the CLP meeting. He told all MLAs to remain present in the meeting. The meeting is significant in view of ongoing spat between Capt Amarinder Singh and PCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu. It is learnt that about 40 MLAs and four ministers have written to party high command to call the meeting.

Harish Rawat had earlier tried to resolve the stand off between Sidhu and Amarinder but Sidhu camp insisted for change in CLP leadership since Capt Amarinder Singh had failed to implement the 18 point agenda given by the party high command. Sidhu had written letter to Chief Minister and party high command to convey his displeasure over functiomning of government.

Capt Amarinder Singh who was taken by surprise over the party's decision to call CLP meeting has also called his loyalist MLAs to his farm house in Siswan to discuss the strategy to counter Sidhu camp.

It is believed party may take some major decision about the Congress affairs in Punjab. The AICC has also deputed some senior central party leaders to coordinate with the MLAs.
