CHANDIGARH: Poshan Maah is observed throughout all districts of Punjab during September with the primary goal of reducing malnutrition, anemia, and low birth weight among children. As per the daily report issued by the Government of India, Punjab has achieved the 6th rank for its exceptional performance during Poshan Maah.
The Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development stated that Poshan Maah is a Government initiative aimed at raising awareness about nutrition's significance and fostering healthy eating habits in the people. The primary objectives include spreading awareness about nutrition's importance, promoting the consumption of nutritious food, reducing malnutrition among women and children, encouraging breastfeeding and providing nutritional services and supplements.
Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted that this year, various activities and programs were conducted in every Anganwadi centre across Punjab during Poshan Maah to educate people, especially women and children, about the significance of a balanced diet. The focus remains on reducing malnutrition in Punjab and enhancing the nutritional well-being of the people.
The Minister exended congratulations to all department officials, Anganwadi workers and helpers for this achievement and encouraged them to work harder their efforts to combat malnutrition effectively in Punjab.
