AMRITSAR: The Government of Punjab is consistent in recruiting the technical personnels in its professional departments for the all-round planned development of the towns, cities, and villages.
The Government of Punjab had advertised 37 posts of Assistant Town Planners (ATPs) in the Department of Local Bodies. Out of these 37 posts, 24 posts have been filled through the Punjab Public Service Commission. It is a proud moment for the Planning Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as out of the 24 ATPs, 23 candidates (accounting for about 96%) are the graduates of the Planning Department of the University. These newly recruited ATPs would be appointed in the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and the Improvement Trusts to plan, develop, and maintain better human habitat and its environs. Earlier this year, 9 out of 10 ATPs (90%) recruited in the Town and Country Planning Department were also from the Planning Department of the University. Also, all the 34 post-graduate students of 2024-2025 session of the department got recruited in the multinational and national level consultancy firms with salary packages ranging Rs. 4.2-9.0 lakhs.
Worthy Vice-chancellor Prof. Karamjit Singh congratulated the faculty of the Planning Department for training the students with high quality teaching and exposure along with developing the state-of-the-art soft skills. Planning Department for its success. While congratulating the newly appointed ATPs, he has advised that they should work with dedication and honesty for the betterment of the society.
He said that planning is an outshining profession in the fast-urbanizing world and there would be high demand of Urban, Regional, Infrastructure, and Transport Planners in the times to come.
He extended his blessings to the Planning Department for keeping the upscaling trends and suggested to look for new avenues and ventures to further excel in future.
