AMRITSAR: Expressing solidarity with Sister Preethi Mary and Sister Vandana Francis, the Catholic nuns, who were arrested in Chhattisgarh on charges of religious conversion and human trafficking, the Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India (CNI), has expressed its unwavering support and unity with them.
In a show of unity and prayer, the Diocese organized a special candlelight prayer during a youth camp, demonstrating its commitment to standing with these dedicated servants of God. Terming the arrest of the two nuns as ‘unjust’ The Right Reverend Manoj Charan, Acting Deputy Moderator, Church of North India, and Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, said a nun’s calling embodies compassion and selfless service to the marginalized sections.
“We stand in solidarity with our sisters in faith, who faced unwarranted scrutiny and targeting. We pray for their protection, strength, and peace in these challenging times, and we will continue to uphold the values of love, compassion, peace, and justice, ” said The Right Reverend Manoj Charan.
