CHANDIGARH: The SIDBI Swavalamban Foundation, in collaboration with the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh, inaugurated a Skill Development Program in Karnal on Thursday. The initiative has been launched with the objective of enhancing the employability of local youth while meeting the workforce requirements of the agricultural equipment industries in the region.

As part of this initiative, training will be provided in Multi-Skill Technician trades, with a strong emphasis on practical training designed to prepare candidates for industry demands. The program is being conducted with the active support of India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Limited and the Karnal Agricultural Implements Manufacturers Association, under the coordination of Mr. Rajesh Kumar.

The training program is aimed at bridging the skill gap by offering targeted training to address shortages in the agriculture and pharmaceutical sectors. It further seeks to enhance employability by equipping local youth with industry-relevant skills to improve their job readiness. At the same time, it supports economic growth by strengthening the workforce, thereby boosting productivity and efficiency in Karnal’s key sectors of agriculture and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, it aims to promote rural development by creating employment opportunities that reduce unemployment and underemployment among rural youth.

The program was formally inaugurated in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED Chandigarh; Mr. Vijay Arora, General Manager, RCED; Mr. Sandeep Kumar, AGM, SIDBI Karnal; Mr. K.C.
