KVIC and RCED Organize People Education Program at PGGC Sector 11, Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), organized a two-day People Education Programme (PEP) and it concluded today at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from 97 students. 

The event commenced with Programme Registration coordinated by Ms. Pragati Katoch and Ms. Simranjot Kaur, Faculty RCED, followed by the Objective of the Programme shared by Ms. Pragati Katoch. A series of activities were conducted including Essay Competition, Quiz Competition, and a special Session on Financial Literacy conducted by Mr. Joginder Kumar

Bhutani, Ex-AGM, State Bank of India (SBI). 

The competitions were judged by Mrs. Kiran Gupta, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Praveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, who appreciated the knowledge and creativity of the participants. 

On the second day, the program began with a Welcome Address by Ms. Namgeet and Ms.Vaishnavi, students from the College, followed by an inspiring session on “Charms in Becoming Entrepreneur” delivered by Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED Chandigarh. 

The occasion was graced by officials from KVIC—Mr. Anil Arya and Mr. Rakesh, and from the District Industries Centre (DIC)—Mr. Davinder Singh, Mr. Satish, and Ms. Jaspinder Kaur. The highlight of the event was the Distribution of Prizes to the winners of the Essay and Quiz competitions. The winners are as follows: 

• Essay Competition:

o 1st Prize – Nishchal (BA I)

o 2nd Prize – Radhika (BA I)

o 3rd Prize – Nikita (BA I)

• Quiz Competition:

o 1st Prize – Tegbir Singh (BA I)

o 2nd Prize – Smile Kashyap (BA I)

o 3rd Prize – Khushil Dubey (BA I) 

The prizes were distributed by Dr. Deepshikha, Dean of the College, along with Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED, KVIC and DIC officers, and the esteemed judges. 

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Deepshikha, Dean of the College, who lauded the collaborative efforts of KVIC, RCED, faculty members, and students in making the event a grand success. 

This two-day People Education Programme served as an effective platform to sensitize students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship opportunities, and the relevance of Khadi and village industries in today’s economy.
