Vigilance Team nabbed a Patwari for taking bribe

PHAGWARA:The Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested a patwari Major Singh posted in Phagwara while taking a bribe of Rs Five Thousands at Patwarakhana Phagwara.

SSP Vigilance Daljinder Singh Dhillon while confirming it told this correspondent here today that the vigilance team led by Inspector Pawan Kumar caught the accused red handed while accepting the bribe from a Villager Ravi Kumar.

SSP Dhillon said that the complainant Ravi Kumar told the vigilance that the accused demanded bribe of Rs 20, 000/- for a mutation of 6 Kanals 3 Marlas of  agriculture land purchased from Manjit Kaur resident of Village Gandhwa in Phagwara. The Complainant said that he paid Rs 15, 000/- but the accused patwari demanded Rs Five Thousands more to provide hand  written mutation.

After verifying the information, the team of VB laid a trap.

A case under 7 Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 as amended by P.C (Amendment) Act 2018  has been registered against the accused at police station Phagwara.
