PHAGWARA: In a swift and commendable operation, the Phillaur Police, under the leadership of DSP Sarwan Singh Ball (PPS), successfully rescued a kidnapped man and arrested two prime accused within hours of the incident being reported.
According to police officials, the case came to light on June 27, 2025, when Kamaljit Kaur, wife of the victim Teja Singh, a resident of Chaharra village, PS Ladowal, District Ludhiana, called the emergency helpline 112, reporting that her husband had been kidnapped and the perpetrators were demanding ₹20, 000 for his release.
Acting promptly, Sub-Inspector Govindar Singh, ASI Paramjit Singh, and other police personnel from Phillaur Police Station, with assistance from the technical cell, traced the location of the victim using his mobile number (98765-65823). Based on the coordinates, the police team successfully located and rescued Teja Singh and arrested the two kidnappers — Mandeep Singh (son of Balbir Singh, resident of Jagatpura Panjdera) and Kamlesh Singh (son of Boota Singh, resident of Tehing village).
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused were part of an organized gang, including Narinder Kumar (son of Sudagar Singh, resident of Jagatpura) and Kiranjit Kaur (wife of Manga Singh, also from Jagatpura). The gang operated a honeytrap scheme where Kiranjit Kaur would lure unsuspecting men to her house under false pretenses. Once the victim was engaged in a relationship with her, the male members of the gang would arrive at the location, abduct the individual, and demand ransom.
On the day of the incident, the victim Teja Singh was taken by the gang on different motorcycles to the remote area of Jhandepeer near the Sutlej River. He was later confined at an under-construction house belonging to Kiranjit Kaur.
Thanks to the swift action of Phillaur Police, the victim was safely rescued, and the kidnappers were arrested from the scene. The police also recovered five mobile phones, one motorcycle, and a toy pistol used to intimidate the victim.
The accused were presented before the honorable court and remanded to police custody for further investigation. Authorities are probing deeper into the activities of the gang and suspect more victims may come forward.
DSP Sarwan Singh Ball praised the vigilance and teamwork of the investigating officers and assured that Phillaur Police remains committed to the safety and security of all residents.
