Revenue Patwaris and Land mafia nexus causing huge loss to Punjab

PHAGWARA: Revenue patwaris and land mafia nexus is causing huge financial losses to the State by registering sale deeds below collector rates.

The residents of Nurmahal made a complaint to Vigilance Bureau that Revenue patwaris of Nurmahal have not updated Jama bandis and Khasra girdawari of land, which has been commercial for a long time.

A glaring example of irregularities of land Jaman Bandi and Khara Girdawari has come to light with residents' complaints against registration of sale deeds based on Jaman Dandis and Khasra Girdawaris, which have been updated by revenue patwaris.

Few acres of land situated on Nurmahal-Jalandhar Road, also known as Sangham colony, opposite sub sub-sub-tehsil complex, is still recorded as Chahi(irrigated ) in Jamanbandi and Khara Girdawri, though it is commercial as shops have been constructed around this piece of land.

It is pertinent to mention here that no one has seen any crop cultivated on this piece of land for a long ago.

Nurmahal social activist Pawan Kumar Sharma, in a complaint to the Naib Tehsildar, has brought to his notice these irregularities, but the concerned revenue officer registered a sale deed of a piece of this land.

He has complained to the financial commissioner of revenue, Punjab, and the Jalandhar deputy commissioner against this wrongdoing by the Nurmahal revenue officer.

Nurmahal residents have demanded a vigilance bureau probe into these irregularities by Patwaris and revenue officers.
