Vada Club Organizes Workshop On Gender And Substance Abuse

CHANDIGARH: Workshop On Gender and Substance Abuse was organized here on Wednesday and the speaker was Ms. Prabhjot Kaur Tiwana, Nodal Officer, NMBA, Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration.

The VADA Club incharge, Dr Ravneet Chawla introduced the speaker as a learned and a great practitioner working for the state in inculcating the preventive role and also providing need based care when there is a case/cases. She shared her expertize in the area by gently touching how youth thinks, gets into the risk behavior and then develops mental health issues and a difficult stuck up phase where they get trapped into.

She talked about various issues prevalent in our society regarding drug abuse and also highlighted the role of Chandigarh administration and One-stop-centre. She focused on improving the overall mind set, mental state and one's own perspective while dealing with life problems. She also emphasised on the importance of positive outlook and healthy lifestyle in keeping oneself away from addictions. The session was very encouraging and interesting as it covered different aspects of substance/drugs abuse and inculcated a sense of responsibility in future teachers to come up as role models for their students.

Shachi Sudhir, the student team leader moderated the question answer session between the speaker and the Chandigarh Police official, Constable Seema to remove any doubts on how to begin when they observe any troublesome situation around them regarding substance. The session ended with address by Dr. Sapna Nanda for the youth to avail the knowledge and services of the helplines shared by the speaker, the police services and their college support system of counsellors. Dr. Ravneet Chawla extended vote of thanks to the speaker.
