Tricity Photo Art Society to hold exhibition on World Photography Day on August 19

CHANDIGARH: North India’s leading photography club, Tricity Photo Art Society (TPAS) in collaboration with the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi (CLKA) is celebrating this year’s World Photography Day on August 19, by organising the 7th edition of the prestigious exhibition of its members, DRISHTI-2022. This was disclosed jointly by the CLKA Chairman and TPAS President, Mr Bheem Malhotra and Ms Neetu Katyal respectively.

This photography extravaganza is being organised in the CLKA gallery on the second floor of the Rani Laxmi Bai Bhawan in Sector 38C, Chandigarh. DRISHTI-2022 shall display 47 works by 26 artists. Pursuing its commitment, TPAS continues to promote young as well as new talent from the Tricity of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

Apart from the exhibition, CLKA and TPAS shall organise workshops on Creative & Surreal Photography, Bird Photography, Single Light Portraiture and Basic of Post Processing. Experts in these fields, Mr Deep Bhatia, Mr Anuj Jain, Ms Neetu Katyal and Mr Praveen Jaggi, respectively, shall share their knowledge and experiences through slideshows. Also, internationally renowned photographer, Mr Vinod Chauhan, who continues to be ranked as No.1 travel photographer, shall give a talk about his monumental photo documentation of Udasies by Guru Nanak Dev ji through a slideshow of his historic work, Charan Chhoh - Punjab. All these workshops are open to all, without any charge.

This August 19-23, 2022, photography extravaganza is TPAS’s first event after the COVID pandemic. During the pandemic, when activities were restricted, TPAS organised nearly three dozen online workshops and interactions with internationally renowned photo artists.

In the latest edition of its monthly magazine, Viewfinder, the Federation of Indian Photography (FIP) has announced that TPAS Patron, Mr Deep Bhatia has been commissioned to conduct a workshop and live demonstration on Droplet Photography at FIP’s three day convention (November 17 to 19th, 2022) at Digha in West Bengal. This is a rare honour for Chandigarh tricity, especially TPAS.

It is also worth a mention that the TPAS’s first woman president, Ms Neetu Katyal has been accepted as jury for nearly a dozen national and international photography competitions and awards. Also senior TPAS member, Mr Anuj Jain’s iconic images in Bird Photography have figured in national and international journals of photography, magazines and newspapers.
