CHANDIGARH:The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has lowered the power tariff for the current fiscal year, while the water tariff is expected to rise by 3% from April 1.
From April 1, the current tariff, which has been cut by up to 11%, will be in place. The JERC decision would benefit over 2 lakh customers in a range of categories, including residential, commercial, and manufacturing. The domestic and commercial electricity tariffs were last raised in 2018-2019.
Residents will be relieved to learn that the JERC has ordered the administration to avoid recovering the quarterly fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) from all groups from April 1, 2021, before further orders are issued.
