CHANDIGARH: The Udaan Project, a women-led skill development initiative by Prayas Trust, the social arm of Larsen and Toubro (L&T), was formally inaugurated on Saturday at the RCED Centre, Sikh Missionary College, Phase 11, Chandigarh. This transformative initiative is aimed at empowering women by providing them with vocational training in the Front Desk and Receptionist trade.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Anju Narang, Unit Head, Prayas Trust Udaan Chandigarh and Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED
A Planter was presented to Mrs. Anju Narang by Mr. Paramjit Singh as a gesture of gratitude and welcome. In his address, Mr. Paramjit Singh highlighted RCED’s commitment towards women's empowerment and skill development. This was followed by an inspiring inaugural speech by Mrs. Anju Narang, Unit Head of Prayas Trust Udaan Chandigarh, where she emphasized the significance of capacity-building initiatives for women, especially in today’s workforce.
It was also announced that the first batch of the Udaan Project, consisting of 25 female candidates, has officially commenced training under this initiative. These candidates will undergo structured skill development to prepare them for frontline roles in the service and hospitality sectors.
The event also celebrated the efforts of young female interns who had worked as volunteers under the Udaan Project, contributing to mobilization activities. These dedicated individuals were honored with certificates in recognition of their efforts.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks acknowledging the collaborative efforts of Prayas Trust and RCED in making the Udaan Project a reality in Chandigarh.
