Chandigarh NSS Cell organizes state NSS Awards Function.

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh NSS Cell organized State NSS Awards function 2021-22 on occasion of Celebration of National Service Scheme Day (24th September) at Post Graduate , Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh. Function started with welcome address by Mr. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Director Higher Education.

In his address he told that the State NSS Cell has 140 units that were funded by the Government of India and 40 self-financed units funded by the Chandigarh Administration. State NSS Cell also ran one open unit first of its kind in the country.Thus, the State NSS Cell works through its army of 19, 000 NSS volunteers throughout the year and contribute towards community service and National transformation.

NSS empowers its young volunteers by developing their personality and character through voluntary community service. It enables them to grow individually and become committed towards the process of national integration. Director higher education said that today is the time to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by the NSS Units, their Programme Officers and volunteers in community service through State NSS Awards. These Awards keep our ranks motivated towards serving the society in a better way with the motto “Not Me But You”. NSS volunteers of Post Graduate, Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh and Government Model Sr. Secondary School Sector-38 West performed cultural activities. In this award function two NSS units, Nine NSS programme officers and 6 NSS volunteers felicitated with cash award, trophy/Medal and certificate by the Education Secretary. 3 Programme officers felicitated with appreciation certificate.

Two National NSS Awardees Reetika Verma and Mohd Amzad also felicitated by the Secretar, Education in her address congratulated the awardees and told that NSS contributes in the society through inculcating the spirit of community service amongst its volunteers and programme officers. The basic tenets of NSS are based on Gandhian values and teachings of Swami Vivekanand. NSS volunteers comprise of a committed section of students who understand their responsibility towards the society and with their dedication, they will lead the society and Nation in future. Further she told that she is confident that volunteers will serve for the betterment of Society and will play a significant role in Nation building.

She reiterate that the State NSS Awards would definitely motivate the other volunteers and programme officers for extraordinary work in future so that their work makes a difference and is thereby acknowledged by the society.In the end, she congratulates the State NSS Cell Chandigarh for organizing this grand event to commemorate the NSS Day and re-emphasize the significance of such an organization in a society that aims towards progress and development by developing its human resource. In last Dr.Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, gave vote of thanks.

Purva Garg, Secretary Education Chandigarh Administration was Chief Guest. Mr. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director School Education was guest of honor. Mrs. Harinder Kaur, Director, NSS regional center Chandigarh was Special Guest.
