851 cases dispose off in the National Lok Adalat

CHANDIGARH: A total of 851 cases were disposed off by the benches of serving Judicial Officers
constituted in New District Courts Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh in National Lok Adalat held here
on Saturday. The cases included two Criminal Compoundable case, 603 cases under Section 138 of
N.I. Act involving an amount of Rs.1, 37, 13, 728/-, 02 Bank Recovery cases involving amount of
Rs.13, 75, 500/-, 12 Motor Accident Claim cases involving an amount of Rs.1, 03, 22, 998/-, 18
Matrimonial/Family Disputes, 52 Civil Suits and Rent Cases involving an amount of Rs.1, 80, 61, 819/-,
14 Executions involving  an amount of Rs.43, 99, 700/-, 02 Criminal Revision, 4 Crl. Misc., 3 Civil Misc.,
15 Arbitration cases, 4 Civil/Rent Appeals, 9 cases of 125 Cr.P.C., 5 case of D.V. Act, 01 Shop Act Case
involving fine of Rs.30, 000/- and 04 cases of Guardian Act were settled, 101 Traffic Challans were
also disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs.60, 500/-. 
    It was held under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, the State Legal Services
Authority alongwith District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh. Necessary directions regarding
safety of litigants, staff and Judicial officers of the Court during the current situation of pandemic
issued by the competent authority have been adhered to.
                        Nine benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District
Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh.  Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act,
Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters,
other Civil Cases,   Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed off with the
consent of the parties.  
                        In addition to above, 42 cases involving an amount of Rs.1, 02, 48, 115/- were disposed
of by Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), 11 pre-litigative cases involving an amount of
Rs.10, 66, 000/-, 4 Labour Dispute Cases involving an amount of Rs.95, 000/-.

Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Chandigarh thanked for making this Lok Adalat a success
and further appealed to resolve their disputes through the Lok Adalats as it provides quick and
economical justice.
