MOHALI: The University School of Physiotherapy & Radiology at Rayat Bahra University organised a skill-based training programme on “Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, and Emergency Response” at the Mini Auditorium. The initiative aimed to enhance safety awareness and equip participants with essential knowledge of disaster management and emergency handling in academic and healthcare settings.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Chancellor S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, who continue to promote academic excellence and professional development.
Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Kumar Gupta, Dean of the University School of Physiotherapy & Radiology, chaired the session and played a key role in its successful organisation.
The training session was delivered by Vipin Kenthal, former Chief Fire Officer and Acting Director/HOD, Delhi Fire Service, and a two-time recipient of the President’s Fire Service Medal. He provided a comprehensive overview of disaster preparedness strategies, fire safety protocols and emergency response mechanisms, drawing on his extensive professional experience.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members, students and staff of the university. Attendees gained practical insights into risk assessment, fire prevention techniques and emergency response planning, which are essential for ensuring safety in academic and healthcare settings.
The initiative underscores the university’s continued commitment to experiential learning and capacity building. By organising such skill-oriented programmes, the institution aims to strengthen preparedness, promote a culture of safety and responsibility, and equip its academic community with the competencies required to handle emergencies efficiently.
