PATIALA: Prof Rajesh K Bawa, Professor and former Head of the Department of Computer Science, has joined as Dean, Faculty of Computing Sciences, Punjabi University.
He has been serving the department for the last 20 years. He obtained his Master’s and PhD degree from prestigious institute IIT Kanpur in the area of Scientific Computing. Thereafter, he served at SLIET Longowal and Thapar University, Patiala also before joining the Punjabi University.
Dr Bawa has guided 12 PhD students and more than 60 M Tech theses in Computer Science. Presently also many research scholars are doing research under his supervision in the area of Grid and Cloud Computing, Digital Image Processing and Smart Energy Management Systems using Machine Learning.
He has published many research papers in journals with reputed publisher Elsevier, Taylors and Francis, Springer etc. He has organized a special session at the International Conference at Illinous Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA. Dr Bawa also acted as Guest Editor for special issues of Journal of Neural, Parallel and Scientific Computing, Dynamic Publishers, USA.
