MOHALI: The Rayat Bahra University here today approved for incorporating `Samaj Chintan’, a book authored by Avinash Rai Khanna, Vice-Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society and Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, as an integral part of the curriculum of Elements of Sociology, and Human Values and Professional Ethics.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, who presided over the function extended an affectionate welcome to Avinash Rai Khanna lauded Khanna for authoring the book which was based on his personal experiences.
Bahra said that the book Samaj Chintan would leave an indelible impact on the minds of the readers as it is a collection of valuable thoughts reflecting the true image of the society.
Registrar of the university Bhagwant singh satyal said the Rayat Bahra University offers open electives and university electives on the pattern of liberal arts with a view to produce balanced personalities. In line with this ideology we are offering two subjects viz. Elements of Sociology, and Human Values and Professional Ethics.
He expressed optimism that Samaj Chintan would be most suited for the students of these two subjects. The university has therefore recommended the book in its curriculum, he added.
