Guru Nanak Dev University Alumni Meet

AMRITSAR: The Alumni Meet - 2023 of the Guru Nanak Dev University was held here today at Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the University. The Alumni Meet was attended by a large number of alumni of the University from wide range of spheres like Judiciary, IAS, Customs & Excise and so many other from PCS, Defence Services, State Town Planners, Industrialists, Academician, GM of various organisations.

The Cabinet Minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar was the Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu presided over the meeting. Prof. Atul Khanna, Dean Alumni Association(AA) welcomed the Alumni of the University and discussed the significance of community culture amongst alumni and faculty, that is of utmost importance for taking University to new academic heights. Prof. Khanna also presented brief report on the activties and fututre plans of Alumni Association GNDU, and informed about steps underway for linking university with the academic world and alumnis.

The chief guest of the day Dr. Nijjar said that I am also product of this University and still recall the memories how we lived in hostel, went to library and sitting for long gossips sessions while enjoying samosa and tea in the various canteen of the University. While congratulating, he said that the recent rapid rise of the Guru Nanak Dev University is only because of the visionary leadership of Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor.

While recalling his memories of campus day, MLA, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh who is also the Vice President of AA GNDU said that I still feel that I am studying in this University. He also appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor to uplift this University at International level and he also brought this in the notice of Vidhan Sabha. He said that due to this speed of rise, it is expected that this University will be an international level University, shortly.

Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor said that the alumni of the university have risen to great heights in diverse fields. The alumni were holding key positions in the academics, judiciary, IFS, IAS, PCS, PCS juducial , Indian Police Services, Federal Services, Corporate Sector, Political Parties, Public/Pharma Sector and Punjab Civil Services etc.

He appealed to University alumni to help the students financially who are in need , in research, help in their career by giving recommendation letter , employ them in their companies and atleast help in their academics evolution .He also said that the university syndicate had already adopted a policy which allows alumni to construct buildings above 5 crores dedicated to their fore fathers. Besides this Alumni can donate in several projects , the details of which are on university website. The alumni donations are exempted under section 80 G of IT act. The eminence of the university is always because of active and supportive alumni base so a humble appeal to help this university to grow further, he added.

Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs expressed his views on this occasion and thanked the alumni for their support. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student Welfare also attended the meeting.

On this occasion, Dr. Nijjer and Prof. Sandhu honored some prominent alumni of the University included Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, SBS University, Gurdaspur, Prof. Rattan Singh from Panjab University, Chandigarh; Dr. Vinay Kumar from BARC, Mumbai; Mrs. Manvinder Sachdev, Retd. CBI Officer; Mr. Kunwar Rajeev from DAV College Jalandhar; Mr. HP Singh, Managing Director of an eminent construction company and member Chief Khalsa Diwan ; Mr. Balwinderjit Singh, Account Executive Asia an Far East Asia for MDS Aero Support Corporation Canada and AneCom Aero Test Germany; Dr. Sukhbir Kaur from NIH, USA; Mr. Rakesh Sharma from Hewlett-Packard, Australia, Mr. Sarabjit Singh Samra, Finance Expert and Sh. Manjit Singh Nijjar.

This meeting was followed by a cultural programme presented by students of the University.
