AMRITSAR: In a landmark step towards academic enrichment and global outreach, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently with S. Jaspreet Singh, a renowned attorney and community leader based in Sacramento, California, USA.
Under this MoU, Mr. Jaspreet Singh has committed to establishing a “Guru Nanak Chair” at GNDU, fully funded by him for the next five years. The Chair will focus on in-depth study and dissemination of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s universal teachings of equality, compassion, service, and oneness of humanity. The funding — exceeding ₹3 crore — will cover the appointment of a full-time Chair Professor, research associates, and other academic resources.
In addition, Mr. Singh has instituted a Research Scholarship Program at GNDU to nurture emerging scholars. Ten selected students pursuing research aligned with Sikh studies and social upliftment will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹8, 000 each, enabling them to carry forward meaningful work without financial constraints.
