CHANDIGARH: Radha Soami dera Beas head Gurinder Singh Dhillon today met the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the Nabha jail. Large number of his followers assembled outside the jail.
The jail authorities initially refused him to allow meeting with Majithia but when dera head told them he would sit outside jail along with his followers, he was allowed the meeting. After the meeting, which lasted for about 30 minutes, Dhillon addressed a group of devotees outside the jail premises before proceeding to Hira Mahal, the residence of the descendants of Nabha’s royal family.
The jail administration has so far denied access to several senior SAD leaders who wanted to meet Majithia, including Daljit Singh Cheema, Sikander Singh Maluka, Mahesh Inder Grewal and Virsa Singh Valtoha, citing rules that only family members can meet him.
The purpose of the meeting is not yet known. However, it is stated that Baba Gurinder Singh's family is closely related to Majithia family.
Later Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon also met the education minister Harjot Singh Bains at his residence at Chandigarh.
Majithia is lodged in Nabha jail in a case of disproportionate assets and money laundering, registered against him by Punjab Police. He was arrested on June 25 from his residence in Amritsar.
An FIR under Section 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered with the Vigilance Bureau police station at SAS Nagar on June 25.
The VB claimed preliminary investigations revealed that more than Rs 540 crore of “drug money” has been laundered through several channels allegedly facilitated by Majithia.
