Teachers Submit Information Letter to DEOs Regarding Collective Leave on August 27
SANGRUR: On the call of the Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Sanjha Mulazam Manch, a delegation representing various teachers’ organisations of Sangrur district submitted an information letter to the District Education Officers regarding the proposed collective leave by teachers on August 27.
The delegation submitted the letter to the District Education Officer (Secondary) and the District Education Officer (Elementary), Sangrur.
Leaders of various teachers’ organisations, including Krishan Singh Duga, Gurjant Singh Walia, Data Singh, Devi Dayal, Sukhwinder Gir, Avtar Singh Bhalwan and Parminder Longowal, accused the Punjab government of failing to resolve the long-pending departmental and financial demands of teachers.
They alleged that instead of addressing their genuine grievances, the government was merely buying time through assurances and discussions. They further alleged that teachers and other employees were being misled in the name of regularising contractual employees.
The leaders said the demand for restoration of the old pension scheme had also not been accepted, while the issues concerning the Dearness Allowance (DA), rural allowance and other financial benefits remained unresolved.
In protest against the alleged failure of the government to address their demands, teachers across Punjab will observe collective leave on August 27, they said.
Jotinder Singh, Baljit Singh, Paramjit Singh, Barinderjit Singh Bajaj, Amrik Singh, Ranjit Singh, Bagga Singh, Sarabjit Singh Punnawal, Harkirat Singh and several other teachers were also present on the occasion.
