CHANDIGARH:Sumit Nagal, who entered as a protected ranking player, beat Alternate entrant Dan Added of France 7-6 (1), 6-2 in his opening singles first match in the € 45, 730 Rhein Asset Open, Meerbusch, , Germany.
In the one hour and fifty five minutes battle Sumit converted four out of eight breakpoints while Dan Added converted three of seven breakpoints. Sumit won 79 total points out of 146 while his rival secured 67 total points from 146.
Sumit, ranked 504th, meets 195th ranked Andrea Arnaboldi of Italy in the next round.
