KAPURTHALA:Pushpa Gujral Science City organized a webinar on National Pollution control Day. Around 70 students and teachers from all over Punjab participated through virtual mode. Giving introductory remarks at the occasion, Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General, Science City said that National Pollution Control Day is organized to make sure that the people understand the long-term effects of pollution on our life, health and ecosystems. It is also necessary to remember the people who have lost their lives due to pollution disasters such as the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy in India during the intervening night of December 2 and 3 due to leakage of Methyl isocyanate from the Union carbide Plant. Science and technology offers important solutions which are environment friendly and economically viable besides tools to help in monitoring of pollution levels, and that these should be used for the benefit of the society, she added.
