GARHSHANKAR: Member Lok Sabha from Anandpur Sahib and former Union Minister Manish Tewari has written a letter to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to take action against the pollution caused by paper mills causing many serious diseases in village Sella Khurd, Garhshankar tehsil. A delegation from the constituency which met MP Tewari had mentioned the problems faced by them, many people had fallen ill due to this pollution and even animals had died.
Taking notice of this, Mr. Tewari wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, seeking action in the matter. In the letter, MP Tewari wrote that according to the panchayat members and people of various villages of Garhshankar tehsil of Hoshiarpur district, various toxic chemicals, pollutants, gas etc. are released, which is adversely affecting the health of the people of the surrounding villages and the animals that inhabit the area.
Many animals have even died. The villagers alleged that they had contacted the local authorities but no action was taken, on which MP Tewari has demanded to take departmental action against the guilty officers.
