Valedictory Function of Skill Training Program for women and Distribution of Sewing Machines

ALAMPUR(HP): The Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) on behalf of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), successfully concluded a skill training program in the self-employed tailoring trade under SJVN’s CSR initiative. The program, which commenced on June 3, 2024, was held at Alampur in District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh and aimed at empowering 30 women from the affected areas of the project.

This initiative provided participants not only with hands-on training in tailoring but also equipped them with soft skills to enhance their self-employment opportunities. The training was facilitated by RCED on behalf of SJVN, reflecting both organizations commitment to women empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.P

During the valedictory function, sewing machines and certificates were distributed to all the participants, empowering them to utilize their skills for income generation. In addition, handholding support will be provided to help participants either start their own ventures or secure job opportunities. Mr. Rajan Sehgal, General Manager of RCED, warmly welcomed the esteemed guests and highlighted that two programs have been conducted—one in Sunni, focusing on Multi-Skill Technician training, and another in Alampur, specializing in Self-Employed Tailor training.

Mr. Krishan Kumar, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of SJVN, and Mr. Kranti Swarup Sharma, Manager, spoke about the program objectives and its broader impact on the local community and conveyed thanks of RCED for conducting the program.

Mrs. Shakuntla Devi, Pradhan of Alampur, and Mrs. Anjana, the trainer for the program, expressed their gratitude to the esteemed guests and the participants who all were involved, delivering the vote of thanks, and requested SJVN to sponsor more such programs for the people of the areas.

Mr. Krishan Kumar, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of SJVN, expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the contributions of all individuals played a role in making the program a success.

This initiative marked a significant step in supporting skill development and self-reliance among women in the region, ensuring a brighter future for them and their families.
