PARKASHPUR (HP): Resentment is brewing in the Chakmoh panchyat of district Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh with boycott of ensuing panchyat election. The issue is creating ripples among politicians in Shimla also which was considered an unified voice. People of the panchyat have also decided to abstain from all subsequent coming elections including block, assembly and parliamentary elections in Hamirpur segment till the fulfillment of their long-standing demand of the Charitable hospital project, stated internationally renowned environmentalist Dr P.C Sharma who is a present descendent of World famous ancient Sidh Peeth of Baba Balak Nath at Deotsidh in Distt. Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh.

There is no shortage of schemes to address the myriad challenges that confront the area. However, most often fulfill only a small part of what is set out to do by the politicians. The one of such projects of 100 bed Multi-speciality state-of- the art Baba Balak Nath Charitable Hospital at Chakmoh was though conceived by the philanthropic residents of village Chakmoh over 4 decades ago and the foundation stone was laid by the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Shanta Kumar yet could not see the light of the day because of lack of political will and bureaucratic red tapeism. It annoyed and forced them to up in the arms agitated the common villagers of the area against the political class.

The libral residents of ancient village of Chakmoh which is associated with the 8th century old Sidh Peeth of Baba Balak Nath have donated their big chunks of priced and prime land amounting to multi crores for running of this medical Charitable Institution which today present a deserted look and even foundation plate is also graying along with project’s aged inaugurators stated Dr PC Sharma. He further told that the area has no Govt. medical care emergency and proper public health services in the radius of about 50 km around.

Amongst the educated youths of the village, the Director of the prominent NGO namely “Jan Jagran Jan Kalyan Samiti” Dr Vanshish Sankhyan who coincidently hails from the hereditary lineage of Sidh Yogi Baba Balak Nath and then predecessor His Holiness Pt. Banarsi Dass Sankhyana, regrets over the casual and callous attitude of the Government and official machinery in sitting over the medical project for such a long time and not even caring about the basic medical needs of the masses.

Earlier, the local Baba Balak Nath Temple Management before its taken over by the Govt. had run more than half dozen of educational, socio cultural, ayurvedic and environmental projects such as Post-Graduate college, Sanskrit College, Model School, Senior Secondary School, Ayurvedic dispensary, Baba Balak Nath Museum, religious library and Eco-Development and Afforestation scheme besides a great hub of  cultural and spiritual activities disclosed Dr Sharma, a great visionary and missionary of the area. He further divulged that several acres of major land chunks valued worth in crores have been donated to the various above institutions by the enlightened villagers of Chakmoh Panchayat.

Moreover, after taking over the management of the temple by the state Government in 1987, misfortune befell on the people as the Baba Balak Nath Charitable Hospital was unfortunately lost in debris of files. The idea behind the multispeciality medical project was to provide best healthcare services to the people of the area and the lakhs of national and international devotees, who are attracted to the sacred cave shrine of Baba Balak Nath for enlightenment, socio-cultural elevation and spritiual solace, as they could not have any access to medical emergencies before the radius of 50 km either at Hamirpur or Bilaspur or Una, indicated a social activist Dr Sharma.

However, in the present situation of public health crisis, a detailed resolution and representation for completion of the Hospital Project is also being sent by the villagers to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi for his personal intervention in the matter.
