HP Governor pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries

SHIMLA: Governor Bandaru Dattatraya paid floral tribute to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at The Ridge Shimla.

On the occasion, the Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi had established the ideals in his life of adopting truth, non-violence and religion.  He had only one message in his Swaraj movement and that was Swadeshi, Ram Rajya and Rural Development.  He adopted Indian traditions with truth and integrity.

“Even during the Covid pandemic, we can become self-sufficient by adopting their thoughts and adopt indigenous spirit”, said the Governor.

Later, the Governor also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk on his birth anniversary.

Patriotic songs and bhajans were also recited on the occasion.  

Suresh Bhardwaj, Urban Development Minister, Satya Kaundal, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla, Ganesh Dutt, Chairman, HIMFED, Amit Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Mohit Chawla, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Councillors and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
