DHARAMSALA: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has revealed plans for the expansion of Kangra Airport, promising a substantial relief package for those displaced by the project. This initiative is part of a broader vision to propel Kangra district into a tourism hub, furthering its development.

During the state-level Shivratri Mahotsav inauguration at the historic Shiva temple on Mahashivratri, Chief Minister Sukhu outlined several key initiatives aimed at bolstering the region's economy and enhancing the welfare of its residents. He highlighted the government's commitment to agricultural prosperity by setting support prices for wheat, corn, and products derived from cow dung, positioning Himachal as the pioneering state in this regard. This move is expected to significantly increase farmers' monthly incomes.

In addition to agricultural reforms, the Chief Minister spoke about the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana, a new honorarium scheme providing Rs 1500 to women and daughters over 18, which translates to an annual benefit of Rs 18, 000 for each beneficiary. This scheme aims to empower women across the state financially.

Recognizing the importance of nurturing young talent and combating drug abuse, the state government has introduced a youth policy, enhancing support for sports and athletes. The policy includes increased dietary allowances for school-level athletes and travel facilities for those competing at national levels.

The Chief Minister's visit to the Baijnath Assembly constituency was marked by the launch and foundation laying of ten significant projects totaling Rs 49.22 crore. These projects encompass a wide range of developmental efforts, including the establishment of educational institutions, healthcare improvements, and infrastructure enhancements. Notably, he announced the construction of a polytechnic institute, an ITI, an expansion of Baijnath Civil Hospital, and the introduction of new medical facilities, alongside investments in sports infrastructure and road development.

The event saw the presence of key figures such as Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar Choudhary, AYUSH, Youth Services and Sports and Law Minister Yadvindar Goma, and other notable government and non-government personalities, all uniting to celebrate the initiation of these transformative projects. This collective endeavor underscores the government's dedication to comprehensive development, aiming to uplift the economic, social, and infrastructural landscape of the region.
