PHAGWARA: Members of the Yuva Vikas Morcha staged a protest outside the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Phagwara on Thursday, condemning alleged derogatory remarks made by BJP leader Swami Sabdesh against Baba Jiwan Singh, a revered figure in the Rangreta community. The protest was led by Anu Sahota, President of the Yuva Vikas Morcha, Phagwara unit.

Addressing the gathering, Sahota accused Swami Sabdesh of deliberately making offensive statements during a recent political event held in Haryana. He alleged that the BJP leader’s remarks were an affront to the legacy of Baba Jiwan Singh, who is honored by the Sikh community for his martyrdom and service to the faith.

The protesters demanded strict action against Swami Sabdesh and announced that the Rangreta Samaj would soon submit a formal memorandum to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala, seeking legal proceedings against the BJP leader. Sahota further warned that the community would organize a state-level protest in the near future if the matter was not addressed promptly.

Prominent among those who joined the protest were Ashvini Sahota, Vice President of Yuva Vikas Morcha, and Karamjeet Bittu, General Secretary of the Congress Party’s Phagwara unit. After assembling at the SP office, the protesters carried out a march through the city, culminating at Goal Chowk, where they burned an effigy of the BJP government as a symbolic act of dissent.
