AMRITSAR: As part of the Punjab government's campaign against war against drug The awareness march started by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria from Dera Baba Nanak, the land touched by the feet of Guru Nanak Sahib, ended at Jallianwala Bagh today.
Addressing Punjabis from Jallianwala Bagh, the land stained with the blood of martyrs, the Governor of Punjab shook the conscience by citing the elders who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country and religion and appealed to eradicate drugs from Punjab.
He said that Punjab, which has sacrificed the most for the sake of the country and religion, has no place for the bad habit of drugs.
On the last day of the Pad Yatra, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria appealed to the people to launch a mass movement against drugs and said that neither he nor the governments can end the disease of drugs unless the common people support this campaign.
He also appealed to the leaders of various parties present on the stage not to do politics on this issue but to come forward to end it with sincerity.
He said that this Pad Yatra against drugs is not just a Governor's Yatra but should be prepared as a mass movement.
He said that this campaign should not be of any government but should be a campaign of the people so that people in every village and locality come forward and raise their voice against drugs.
He said that the security committees formed for the security of villages on the border, which are doing a good job in stopping drug smuggling, should be given more funds for the development of villages based on their performance.
The Governor of Punjab thanked every section of the society for the Yatra, including school children, teachers, panchayats, farmers, traders, sportsmen, political parties, district administration and artisans for their support and appealed to them to continue this campaign continuously. He said that this awareness campaign will also continue on my behalf.
Earlier, the Governor of Punjab paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib at 4 am and sought the protection of God to make Punjab drug-free. He put his shoulder on the palanquin and performed seva.
Governor of Punjab Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria started the Yatra from Bhandari Bridge which passed through Hall Bazaar and ended at Jallianwala Bagh.
On this occasion, apart from the famous personalities of the city, Union Minister of State Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Mr. Sunil Jakhar, Mr. Vivek Pratap Singh Principal Secretary, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Sakshi Sahni Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Gurmeet Singh Rana Sodhi, Secretary of District Wale Bagh Mr. Mukherjee, writer Khushwant Singh and other dignitaries were present.
