LUDHIANA: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana extended hands for the flood affected livestock and folks. An animal welfare and health camp was organized in Tarn Taran district.
The camp was conducted with the goal of providing immediate veterinary assistance, preventive healthcare, and essential feed supplies to the distressed livestock population. A team of veterinary experts and interns students participated in the camp, offering their expertise and services to the farmers. The experts provided treatment and free medicine to the animals of flood effaced farmers.
In a commendable gesture of social responsibility and industry support, the All Feed Millers Association (AFMA), Punjab donated 75 quintal of cattle feed during this camp.
S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, Cabinet Minister for Jail, Transport & Hospitality graced the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of both AFMA Punjab and Veterinary University. He remarked, “Such initiatives during this critical time reflect true commitment towards our community.
Dr. J.P.S Gill, Vice-Chancellor said that Vet Varsity is committed to the welfare of Punjab’s farmers. It is truly commendable that the Regional Research and Training Centre & KVK Booh staff went beyond their official responsibilities and personally contributed to arrange silage for farmers. Their compassion and dedication reflect the true spirit of our university.”
The AFMA, Punjab President Mr Ashok Kumar along with Secretary Sh. G.S.Sodhi and other office bearers were also present. Mr. Ashok Kumar said, “We recognize the challenges that farmers are facing due to the floods. This donation is just the beginning. We are fully committed to continuing our support, especially once the water recedes and recovery efforts begin in earnest.” The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. R.S.Grewal, Director of Extension Education. Dr. Grewal informed that another flood relief camp will be organized at Ladhuke Mandi, Fazilka on 5th September.
During the camp, the services provided were On-spot treatment of ailing animals, Vaccination and deworming for disease prevention, Gynaecological check-ups and reproductive health consultations for milch animals, free of cost distribution of fodder and feed to farmers , awareness sessions on post-flood livestock care, disease management, and nutrition. A large number of farmers attended the camp.
Dr. Puneet Malhotra, Dr Prabjeet Singh Deputy Director KVK, Booh, Tarn Taran and the entire team did commendable work for the success of this event.
