Three Wasted Years: Mann Government in Punjab delivers no relief, no progress — only hype and nepotism: BJP

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | October 27, 2025 04:52 PM

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and its Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are once again misleading the people with false claims during the Tarn Taran by-election and betraying the trust of Punjabis, alleged Ashwani Sharma, State Working President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in a statement issued here today. He said that merely talking is not enough — it is the government’s responsibility to fulfill the promises made to the people, a responsibility the AAP government has completely abandoned.

Sharma said that during the 2022 elections, Bhagwant Mann had promised to give ₹1, 000 per month to every woman in Punjab, provide employment opportunities, and improve the condition of schools and hospitals. However, even after three years, the public has received neither relief nor development. Electricity bills have gone up, unemployment is rising, and the condition of government hospitals has worsened further.

He said the government has failed on every front — farmers are neither getting full compensation nor fair prices for their crops. Meanwhile, the tall claims of curbing drugs and improving law and order exist only on paper. Daily incidents of shootings, lootings, and murders reveal the grim reality of the state.

Ashwani Sharma further stated that Chief Minister Mann often speaks against dynastic politics, yet both he and Arvind Kejriwal follow double standards that the people can clearly see. He questioned under what authority CM Mann’s wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, and Ex Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal are campaigning from election stages. “Neither holds any government or party position, so how are they participating in official and political rallies? This is a blatant example of family politics, ” he said.

He added that after winning the Jalandhar by-election, Bhagwant Mann had announced that he would take residence in Jalandhar to directly hear public grievances, but that promise was never fulfilled. That residence has now turned into a hub for political meetings, while the voice of the common people no longer reaches there.

Sharma said that Punjab’s economy is in a dire state — the treasury is empty, and the government is trying to hide its failures by blaming the Centre. Development work has come to a halt, industries are migrating, and youth are being forced to move abroad.

He remarked that the AAP government has completely strayed from its original agenda and is now focused only on expanding the party and self-promotion, with no concrete steps taken in the public interest.

According to Sharma, the people of Punjab have now seen the truth. In the Tarn Taran by-election, the public will give a befitting reply to this dishonest and incompetent government. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is the only force capable of reviving Punjab’s economy, bringing industries back, and creating new opportunities for the youth. People of the Tarn Taran region are ready to support BJP candidate Harjit Singh Sandhu to teach this government a lesson.

In conclusion, Sharma said that the people of Punjab had elected the Aam Aadmi Party hoping for honesty, transparent governance, and development — but instead received false promises, confusion, and deep disappointment. “It’s time for the people to hold this government accountable for its failures in the upcoming by-election, ” he asserted.
