AMRITSAR: The allegations leveled by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami against Sikhs joining the BJP for denying 'Guru Sahib' have reached Akal Takht.

Prof. Sarchand Singh Khyala, who recently joined the BJP, wrote a letter to Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh saying that the "disclaimer" uttered by the SGPC president had deeply hurt his religious sentiments.

He appealed to the Jathedar to take notice of the attempt made by the SGPC President Mr. Harjinder Singh Dhami to provoke the religious sentiments of the Sikh community to create a rift between the Sikh community and the BJP and to refrain from misrepresenting the Sikhs joining the BJP.
The joining of any Sikh to the BJP does not violate any Sikh code of conduct, nor ii is a matter of conversion from the Guru which can be termed as denial.

He said that the Constitution of India gives everyone the right to choose the political party of their choice.

In a letter written by Prof. Sarchand Singh Khyala to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and National Minorities Commission, he said that while addressing a religious gurmat function at Sri Anandpur Sahib in the past, the President of the Shiromani Committee Mr. Dhami on behalf of Bhai Mahan Singh Ji Various references to Sikh individuals joining the ruling party of Delhi (Bharatiya Janata Party) in the name of alerting the Sikh community in the context of reciting disclaimer from Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj at Dhab (Sri Muktsar Sahib) With (the video is available on the official Facebook page of the SGPC) he is saying that the Sikhs who are leaving the BJP are "denying Guru Sahib".
The most 'slander' for any Sikh is the refutation of Guru Sahib in the Sikh Life Examination and Dictionary. To deny means to deny the Guru, to be aloof and to be ignorant. No Sikh can even dream of being aloof and obedient to the Guru

Sarchand Singh said that he is an Amritdhari Gursikh and has recently joined the political party BJP.
He said that the statement made by the SGPC President during a press conference on the occasion that the tendency of Sikhs to join BJP was wrong further strengthened his views.

He said that there were many Sikhs in the BJP whose unblemished personality and performance had made the Sikh community famous.
He further said that such as Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri who besides being a diplomat also served as India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Chairman and then President of the United Nations Security Council. Iqbal Singh Lalpura (who was honored by the Shiromani Committee as Shiromani Sahitkar from Sri Akal Takht Sahib in 2006) as the Chairman of the National Minorities Commission. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Member of Parliament and former Chairman, who has been serving as Honorary Secretary of Khalsa College Amritsar for a long time Can the National Minorities Commission Mr. Tarlochan Singh and Member of Parliament and former Union Minister SS Ahluwalia also be included in the list of deniers?
