GURDASPUR: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked where was Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal in WHOLE name AAP had asked for “ek mauka”, even as he asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to stop the blame game and release compensation to the flood hit immediately.

The SAD president flagged off 250 trolleys of maize silage for 137 villages of Dera Baba Nanak besides visiting the Beas river bundh at Bahadurpur Rajoya village in Hargobindpur constituency today. Besides, hundreds of fogging machines were also sent to affected villages with YAD members assigned the task to personally monitor the operation.

As many as 25 trucks of maize silage were also dispatched for Patti and Khadoor Sahib constituencies from Sri Muktsar Sahib silage plant today.

Mr Badal also spoke to the Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur to bring pressing issues to his notice besides assuring all help from the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “why didn’t Kejriwal come to your bundhs ? Why did the AAP government forsake you? Answering the questions himself, he said “Kejriwal is only interested in looting the resources of Punjab. Chief minister Bhagwant Mann has no shame. He has refused to release any money for either flood relief operations or compensation for crop damage. All this only proves that the political parties of Delhi only treat Punjab as a guest house. For the SAD Punjab is our home. That is why we have been in the forefront from day one of the floods to plug breaches, strengthen bundhs and provide relief material. We will be carrying forward this initiative by providing certified seed to farmers for one lakh acres of land besides disbursing wheat to 50, 000 poor families in flood affected areas”.

Mr Badal also spoke on how agencies were trying to weaken the SAD. “In the coming days they will present Sikhs whose sole aim will be to divide the Sikh quom. Beware of such persons as they will try to be one among us but their goal is to weaken the SAD and Sikh institutions”. Asking Punjabis to stop experimenting any further, Mr Badal “the SAD is a time tested regional party which has always fulfilled its promises and has a track record of speedy development as well as implementation of unique social welfare schemes”.

The SAD president also spoke on how the criminal negligence on the part of the AAP government vis a vis management of the Ranjit Sagar dam and the Shahpur barrage had compounded the suffering of the farmers of the border area. He said water was allowed to accumulate for twenty days during the monsoon season before it was released in one go after crossing the danger mark. “This abrupt release of 2.5 lakh cusecs of water for three days simultaneously destroyed crops in lakhs of acres of land”. Mr Badal said the gates of the Shahpur barrage also collapsed due to criminal negligence on the part of the AAP government. “The government did not pay heed to written requests in January for repairing the barrage”.

Mr Badal also addressed a massive gathering at village Dogar Mahesh, organised by Baba Chain Singh, ex member zila parishad. Senior leaders including Sucha Singh Langah, Gurbachan Singh Babbehali, Rajanbir Singh Ghuman, Ravi Mohan, Guriqbal Singh Mahal, Lakhvir Singh Lodhinangal, Raman Sandhu, Surinder Singh Mintu, and youth leaders Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar and Sonu Langah, Jaspreet Singh Rana, accompanied the SAD president.
