Shiv Sena Punjab Alleges Anti-Hindu Bias by State Government, Warns of Statewide Agitation

PHAGWARA: Shiv Sena Punjab has leveled serious allegations against the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing it of promoting an anti-Hindu agenda and providing unchecked freedom to pro-Khalistani elements. The organization warned that if discriminatory practices against the Hindu community are not immediately stopped, a statewide protest movement will be launched.

Addressing the media today, senior state vice presidents Inderjit Karwal and Rajesh Palta, state spokesperson Vipin Sharma, city president Ankur Bedi, and youth leader Aman Basra expressed strong discontent over what they described as selective law enforcement and political appeasement by the Punjab government.

Citing a recent incident in Jalandhar where Nihang Sikhs allegedly assaulted a Hindu individual, the leaders claimed that the matter has been deliberately ignored under the guise of "investigation." They further alleged that Hindu leaders were barred from entering the city to prevent unrest, suggesting a clear bias in administrative response.

In contrast, they pointed to an incident in Muktsar, where Hindu leaders staging a peaceful protest were booked under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code, based on what they claim were false accusations — despite video footage contradicting the charges.

Karwal and Palta also criticized what they described as a “double standard” in how public demonstrations are treated in Punjab. “When Hindus protest, it’s termed a law-and-order issue, but when farmers block national highways for months, it’s hailed as a fight for justice, ” they said, adding that the visual majority of turbaned individuals in farmer protests aligns with the Chief Minister’s political base.

They challenged CM Bhagwant Mann to reveal how many protestors have been jailed during his three-year tenure and questioned his silence over rising incidents of alleged religious aggression by Nihang groups and Khalistani sympathizers.

State spokesperson Vipin Sharma expressed concern over the silence from both the Punjab Chief Minister and his Delhi-based leadership. “While fake narratives of peace and development are being projected during the Ludhiana by-elections, traders and ordinary citizens know the reality of deteriorating law and order under this incompetent government, ” Sharma said.

City President Ankur Bedi and Aman Basra echoed the warnings, declaring that Punjab’s Hindu community will completely boycott the Aam Aadmi Party in upcoming elections, branding it as not only anti-Hindu but also a threat to the peace and integrity of a sensitive border state like Punjab.

The leaders have urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take immediate and serious note of the situation and alleged police bias. They also issued a stern warning to the state government: if discrimination in matters of justice and law enforcement continues, the Hindu community will be compelled to take to the streets, and the government will face strong consequences before the end of its term.
