CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) United has announced to hold district level protests and dharnas in Punjab on Thursday, July 15 against the massive hike in petrol, diesel and cooking gas and daily rising prices.

The party would also hand over a memorandum to all the deputy commissioners of the district to get the prices back. In this regard the Patron of the party Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and President Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa have appealed to their senior leaders, office bearers and workers to join these dharnas in large numbers. General Secretary of the party Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad.

He said that apart from the rising prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and home rations, the general public was dissatisfied and no action had been taken at the Center and Punjab level to reduce it. The remaining Capt. Amarinder Singh government is embroiled in its own internal strife. He said that it was unfortunate that on one hand the prices of LPG were being continuously increased and on the other hand the subsidy on domestic gas cylinders was being withheld. Thus the common man is being hit twice. He said that today the prices of food items and household items have gone up manifold. This has put a huge burden on the people's economy.

It is the job of governments to control inflation. A government that cannot control inflation cannot be pro-people and in the current scenario the Capt. Amarinder Singh-led Congress government at the Center and in Punjab has failed to tackle inflation.

He said that in view of the growing public outcry over inflation, the party has decided to hold dharnas at the district level in the state. He strongly appealed to the common people of Punjab to join these dharnas.
