Shameful act of AAP MLA: Court sentences Naresh Yadav to 2 years in jail for desecration of holy Quran Sharif

Opposition parties hunt for Kejriwal, SAD demands from ECI to cancel registration of AAP
CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which came to power in Punjab on the promise of punishing culprits discretion of Guru Granth Sahib was caught on the wrong foot when party MLA Naresh Yadav was today sentenced by a court on chargers of sacrilege of holy Quran Sharif.

Naresh Yadav AAP MLA from Mehroli in Delhi was today sentenced Naresh Yadav to two years in jail and also imposed a fine of Rs.11000 for hatching conspiracy in sacrilege incident. Parminder Singh Grewal District Session judge found Naresh Yadav guilty of sacrilege. Naresh Yadav a sitting MLA has reportedly links with RSS.

The torn pages of Quran Sharif were found scattered on Jarag road in Malerkotla on June 24, 2016. Police had arrested Vijay Kumar a resident of Patiala for throwing pages of holy Quran Sharif on the road. He named Naresh Yadav behind the conspiracy. A case was registered by police under section 295A of IPC and Yadav was arrested on July 24, 2016. The trial court of Malerkotla had in 2012 acquitted Naresh Yadav while Vijay Kumar and another accused Nand Kishire were sentenced to two years in prison.

Mohammed Ashraf a resident of Malerkotla had challenged the acquittal of Naresh Yadav in the high court. Based on the statement of convict Vijay Kumar, the court found him guilty of conspiracy behind desecration holy Quran Sharif. The incident was aimed to create hatered against political oppoonets before the assembly elections. Naresh Yadav had transferred Rs.90 lakh in the account of Vijay Kumar.

The opposition partis in Punjab are now hunting for AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal who gave the party ticket to Naresh Yadav from Mehroli seat. CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa posted on Twitter (X), "@ArvindKejriwal promised justice in sacrilege cases, but his own MLA, Naresh Yadav, has been convicted in the Malerkotla Quran sacrilege case. @AamAadmiParty, which claimed moral high ground, stands exposed. Instead of healing Punjab, they’ve fueled unrest. @BhagwantMann's silence is telling. #AAPExposed

SAD leader and former Minister Bikram Singh Majithia demanded to cancel the registration of AAP. He said that ECI shall take cognizance of conviction of AAP MLA in sacrilege case which is a heinous crime. He said that Kejriwal was making tall claims of punishing accused of sacrilege in Punjab but his own MLA is involved in the crime for which no pardon is possible. He said that for the first time direct involvement of political party was found. He said that AAP tried to spark riots in Muslim dominated city. At the time of incident SAD-BJP alliacne was in power in Punjab.
