SGPC takes stern notice to defame Sikhs on social media

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has taken a strong notice of the posts defaming the Sikh community on social media. A letter has been written by the Shiromani Committee to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar in this regard.

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the SGPC, while strongly condemning this heinous act of defaming Sikhs, has also called upon the governments to take stern action against such persons.

Advocate Dhami said that the Sikh community always respects women following the path laid down by the Gurus, but the powers that be defame the Sikhs are not digesting the glorious traditions of the Sikh community and the nature of respect for everyone.

He said that with the same malice, in the past, posts defaming Muslim women on Bully Bai app have been shared by some people on social media platforms on fake accounts bearing Sikh names to defame Sikhs. .

He said that although some people have been arrested in the case of this bully by app, in this case anyone who defames Sikhs should be exposed.

He said that the SGPC had written a letter to the Commissioner of Police Amritsar seeking information from the Cyber Crime Department in this regard.

He said that people who share unethical posts on fake social media accounts with Sikh names should not be spared.

It is to be mentioned that two accused Vishal Kumar and Shweta Singh have been arrested from Mumbai and other places in the Bully Buy app case.

According to media reports, the accused have been identified by the police in the initial investigation as having misused Sikh names such as 'Khalsa Supremeist', 'Jat Khalsa', 'Justice for Sikhs', etc. on Twitter and other digital platforms.
