PHAGWARA: Amit Mishra an employee of Lovely Professional University Phagwara has sought the intervention of DGP Punjab and ADGP crime to protect him from certain miscreants who are beating and harasasing him and also manhandled his mother and sister. The local police is not registering FIR in the case, he alleged that a relative of SP Phagwara is among the accused persons.
In his letter Amit Mishra has informed the Punjab Police authorities that he had been continuously harassed by certain jealous individuals at my workplace at LPU. I had complained about this several times, but no action was taken by HR or the concerned authorities.
His communication sent to newspapers read, "On 9 January 2026, since morning, I was randomly beaten by Navdeep Dhaliwal, Lavish Kansal, Sunil Dutt Sharma, Akashdeep, Rakesh Kumar, and Sanjay Jindal in the office of Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal, wife of Shri Ashok Mittal, Rajya Sabha MP from AAP. On the same evening, I was illegally handed over to the police without any reason at Chehru Chowki. For the next two days, I was forced to sign blank papers and was also beaten while in custody.
I was kept in custody without access to food, was not allowed to contact my family members, and was forced to sign blank papers. I was also forced to give access to my phone and laptop by ASI Manjit Singh and ASI Jasveer Singh, who work on the LPU payroll and were acting under the influence of LPU individuals like Navdeep Dhaliwal.
At that time, I was serving as Deputy Director – Placement at LPU. On 9 January 2026, my laptop and mobile phone were snatched from me. I was allegedly kidnapped by the LPU officials mentioned above, and my laptop and mobile phone have been compromised.
He requested DGP Punjab DGP that if an IITian at a senior designation such as Deputy Director – Placement, who has no direct relationship with Navdeep Dhaliwal or his department (Controller of Examination), can be treated in such a manner simply because I was forced to resign by the Pro-Chancellor and refused to comply with the demands of Lovely Professional University, then it is deeply concerning. I have evidence for everything.
Subsequently, on 11 January 2026, access to my laptop and mobile phone was given to IT professionals brought by LPU under the watch of Amandeep Kaur, SHO Cybercrime, under alleged instructions of SP Phagwara Madhavi Sharma, who, as mentioned by Sunil Dutt Sharma, happens to be his relative. I was pressured to resign, as Sanjay Jindal, Additional Director, allegedly has personal hostility toward me; otherwise, I was told that an FIR would be filed against me. Eventually, an FIR was filed.
My mother and sister were also manhandled and beaten. We have obtained our MLR reports. However, SP Phagwara Madhavi Sharma, allegedly under political pressure from Dr Ashok Mittal, is not taking any action. We are also receiving threats of being killed from Shri Navdeep Dhaliwal. Additionally, my email ID amitmobilebackup@gmail.com has been compromised and its all details are changed, under the instructions of SP Phagwara.
