AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has strongly refuted the false facts being presented by Aam Aadmi Party leader Baltej Pannu. In a press statement issued, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Secretary Pratap Singh said that the statement made by Baltej Pannu that the session is held every year with the approval of the DC is not correct.

He said that according to the Sikh Gurdwara Act, during the first session after the general elections of the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee, only the election for the post of president is held under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, after which the session is led by the elected president.

He said that after the first session after the general elections, the general session of the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee held every year is led by the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee as per the Act, in which the Deputy Commissioner is not present in any way.

He said that Baltej Pannu is presenting this section of the Sikh Gurdwara Act by breaking it, which is misleading the Sangat. S. Partap Singh said that if Baltej Pannu has to talk about such technical matters, he should read the Sikh Gurdwara Act carefully.

Pratap Singh said that it is also untrue to link the approval of the resignation of former Chief Secretary of the SGPC, Dr. Roop Singh, with Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. He clarified that when the investigation report was submitted by Dr. Ishar Singh and the action taken accordingly, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was the General Secretary of the SGPC and not the President of the SGPC.

He said that before making any comment about the Sikh organization, it is important to read the facts carefully and not to mislead the Sangat by making arbitrary statements.
