AMRITSAR: Mr Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has strongly condemned the incident disrespect of Gurbani and demanded action against the accused. He said that disrespect of Gurbani could not be tolerated and no one had the right to tamper with Gurbani.

He said that Swami Brahmdev from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan had posted Gurbani on Facebook in his own way which could not be tolerated.

He said that the SGPC had sent a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar for action in this regard.

The SGPC President said that a charge sheet should be filed against the person concerned for hurting Sikh sentiments.

Mr Dhami expressed concern that the religious sentiments of Sikhs are often hurt on social media and Sikh doctrines are also being tampered with.

This is being done deliberately and sadly no concrete action is taken against such people even after complaints.

He said that such people should be given exemplary punishment so that no one would dare to do such thing.

This heinous act has come to light on a Facebook account called 'Swami Brahmdev Ji Maharaj Ganganagar Wale', which has caused a wave of resentment in the Sikh world.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly demanded action against the accused for tampering with holy verses of Gurbani on social media by a person belonging to Rajasthan, changing some words and using his name instead of Guru Sahib.
