AMRITSAR: The meeting of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today strongly condemned the injustice being done to the imprisoned Sikhs by the governments and termed it as discrimination against the minority Sikhs in the country.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the recent rejection of the release appeal of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar by the Sentence Review Board of the BJP government in Delhi is regrettable.
He said that earlier the Aam Aadmi Party government kept doing this and now the BJP government is also following anti-Sikh lines. He also questioned the silence of the Sikh leaders in the BJP on this matter. Advocate Dhami said that this has exposed the duplicity of the Sikh leaders in the BJP.
He also called the non-release of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and other imprisoned Sikhs by the central government despite serving sentences a violation of human rights. The SGPC president said that governments should not treat imprisoned Sikhs like strangers and that every Sikh prisoner who has served his sentence should be released immediately.
Advocate Dhami said that the Interim Committee has also taken note of anti-Sikh activities using AI technology.
Talking about the allegations levelled by former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh against the SGPC for the land taken by GMADA of Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali under the scheme and the land of Gurdwara Sri Bhatta Sahib Ropar, the SGPC President said that these are completely baseless allegations.
Advocate Dhami said regarding the allegations made by Giani Raghbir Singh, the Chief Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, through a press conference yesterday, that the Inquiry Committee has taken a serious decision and issued a notice to prove the allegations within 72 hours.
