CHANDIGARH: Punjab Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today condoled the death of National Volleyball Coach Gurmukh Singh, the father of Senior Journalist Jupinderjit Singh, Special Correspondent of The Tribune and father-in-law of Kanchan Vasdev, Assistant Editor, The Indian Express.
Gurmukh Singh (77), who belongs to village Khalra (Amritsar), remained coach of almost every state’s Volleyball teams. He breathed his last at his residence in Mohali this evening after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
In his condolence message, S. Randhawa said that his death has left a void in the arena of sports which is difficult to be fulfilled. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives and friends of the deceased and prayed to the Almighty to give them the courage to bear this grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
