Punjab Congress leader Tara Singh Sandhu passed away

MOGA:  senior Congress leader and writer Dr Tara Singh Sandhu who was sick for the last few months passed away at a hospital in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

His body was cremated at Bhinder Khurd village in the presence of many local party leaders, friends and relatives. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh mourned his death saying the Congress had lost an honest, wise and learned man. He also remained General Secretary of Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha.

Born on June 25, 1953 Tara Singh Sandhu was associated with student movement for long time. While studying in Punjabi University Patiala, he emerged as leader of AISF and joined ranks with Communist Party of India. Later he joined Tiwari Congress alongwith Jagmeet Singh Brar. He then joined Congress party when Jagmeet Brar returned to party fold.He was made president iof Moga District Congress Committee but lost this post after Jagmeet Brar joined SAD.
