SANGRUR: Police lathi charged the ETT cadre's 5994 Union and 2364 Union teachers who gheraoed the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur on Tuesday. They have been demanding their joining for the last one and a half years, During this, a large number of ETT unemployed teachers were injured, who were taken to hospitals by ambulance 108.
Apart from this, during the lathi charge, a large number of youths' turbans and bangles of daughters were rolled in their feet. Along with this, the police fired water cannons and fired tear gas shells.
On this occasion, the unemployed teachers raised slogans against the Punjab government of the Aam Aadmi Party led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the education department and staged a protest. The said unemployed teachers gathered at Verka Milk Plant Sangrur at 10 am on Tuesday. Where various leaders addressed. After this, they took out a huge protest march and reached the National Highway, where a strong protest was held.
According to the leaders, the Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court has not imposed any ban on the said ETT 5994 recruitment, but the high officials of the education department are stopping the entire process of joining by making the excuse of the Honorable High Court having imposed a ban. In protest of which the said unions have been forced to hold a protest.
The leaders of both the unions of ETT cadre, Harjit Budhlada, Bunty Kamboj, Gursangat Budhlada, Bagga Khudal, Balihar Singh, Parampal Fazilka, Manpreet Mansa, Ramesh Abohar, Harish Kamboj and Pargat Boha, said that the provisional selection lists for ETT 2364 recruitment have been released by the Education Department on 25 July 2024 and the provisional selection lists for 5994 recruitments on 1 September 2024, but the Education Department has not yet made us join.
They further said that due to by-elections held in four constituencies of the state, the Education Department had stopped the recruitment process on the pretext of the election code of conduct. After which the Election Commission of India had given permission to conduct the station selection portal before the voting day for the said recruitment and to conduct the station selection immediately after the voting day.
Meanwhile, on 14 October 2024, a reserved decision was pronounced by the Honorable High Court regarding the EWS category. The hearing in this regard was held on 19 November 2024. In whose written order there is no mention of any kind of ban, while only the next date is 17 January 2025. After this, as soon as the union leaders met the senior officials of the department after taking the order of the Honorable High Court, they said that this recruitment process has been banned, whereas there is nothing like this.
The leaders said that they talked to the lawyers of the union about this order, they clarified that there is no ban anywhere in the order, the Education Department can allot stations and join schools if it wants, but the Education Department is not doing this.
