PHAGWARA: In a determined move to tackle the growing menace of drug abuse and trafficking, the Phagwara Police have launched the third phase of their anti-drug campaign, titled ‘Yudh Nashya Virudh 3.0’.
The initiative, which formally commenced today is being spearheaded by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, IPS, and reflects a strategic escalation in the district’s ongoing war against narcotics.

This latest phase focuses on a blend of enforcement, intelligence-led operations, public cooperation, and rehabilitation efforts. Under the campaign, regular cordon and search operations are being conducted in various areas of the Phagwara sub-division to identify and detain individuals involved in drug-related activities. The police have also intensified targeted raids aimed at dismantling the supply chains and networks of known drug peddlers, said SSP Gaurav Toora.

He said that cops are giving special attention to the Safe Punjab tip line, a public reporting mechanism that allows citizens to confidentially share information related to drug offences. Each tip received is being carefully verified, and credible information is being acted upon swiftly with the registration of FIRs and initiation of legal proceedings. He said, this mechanism has already begun yielding significant leads.

SSP Toora said that the Community involvement is another cornerstone of the campaign. The police have been holding regular meetings with Village Level Defense Committees and Ward Defense Committees, urging local residents to stay vigilant and collaborate in identifying suspicious activity. SSP Toora has emphasized that public participation is crucial to the success of the campaign and that lasting change can only be achieved when law enforcement and communities work hand in hand.

Phagwara S, P. Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said that beyond enforcement, the campaign is also prioritizing support for individuals battling addiction. Those identified as addicts are being referred to de-addiction centers, while outreach efforts are underway to promote OPD-based treatment options for those seeking help voluntarily. This dual approach of crackdown and care seeks to both disrupt the drug supply and support those affected.

In addition, properties and assets suspected to have been acquired through drug money are being scrutinized and processed for forfeiture through the appropriate legal channels. Police officials noted that financial investigations are an essential part of dismantling the deeper networks of the drug trade.

SSP Gaurav Toora and SP Bhatti said that the launch of Yudh Nashya Virudh 3.0 underscores the administration’s resolve to make Phagwara and the wider Kapurthala district safer and drug-free. He urged citizens to stand united in this fight and to report any information without hesitation.

As the campaign gathers momentum, the Phagwara Police remain committed to sustained action, transparency, and community empowerment in their mission to eliminate the scourge of drugs from the region. Meanwhile CASO operation headed by Inspector Aman Kumar Daveshwar was also launched in and around Phagwara Bus Stand.
SSP said that such operation will continue till abolishing drugs menace.
