Pakistan’s act of religious discrimination is a direct assault on Sikh–Hindu unity: BJP

AMRITSAR: Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala has strongly condemned Pakistan’s act of denying entry to Hindu devotees who were part of the Sikh pilgrimage delegation traveling to Pakistan on the occasion of the 556th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.

Prof. Khiala said that preventing Hindu pilgrims from crossing the Wagah border alongside Sikh devotees is not only a case of religious discrimination but also a blatant violation of fundamental human rights.

He noted that the Hindu pilgrims, whose passports clearly identified their religion and who had been issued valid visas by Pakistani authorities, were suddenly stopped at the last moment at the border — calling it a shameful and discriminatory act.

“This incident is not merely an insult to a few Hindu pilgrims, ” Prof. Khiala said, “but a deliberate attempt to strike at the deep spiritual and cultural bond shared by the Sikh and Hindu communities.”

He further remarked that the sole purpose of these Hindu devotees was faith and reverence toward Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and Pakistan’s denial of entry reflects Islamabad’s calculated political ploy to create divisions between Hindu and Sikh communities — particularly after Operation Sindoor, which exposed Pakistan’s sectarian agenda.

Prof. Khiala emphasized that Guru Nanak Dev Ji does not belong to any single religion or community but to all humanity.

Quoting the Guru’s timeless message — “Recognize all mankind as one” — he said that any form of religious bias or discrimination is an affront to the teachings and dignity of Guru Nanak’s path.
