AMRITSAR: Taking stock of the arrangements for the procurement of Paddy starting from October 1 in the district, Deputy Commissioner Mr Gurpreet Singh Khaira strongly instructed the officials to keep a close watch on the bogus billing of paddy this time and not a single sack of paddy coming from outside the state should enter the district.
He said that the procurement of paddy was to continue till November 5 and during this time the farmers should not face any difficulty in the mandis. He appealed to the farmers to come to the mandis only with dry paddy and green paddy would not be allowed in the mandis.
Meanwhile, he asked the heads of all the procurement agencies that the lifting of paddy should be done simultaneously so that there would be no stockpile of paddy in the mandis and there would be space for the farmers to unload the paddy in the mandis.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this time the MSP of paddy has been fixed at Rs. 1960 and for the procurement of paddy 57 permanent mandis and 39 temporary mandis have been set up in the district. He said that this time 5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected to arrive in the district.
He said that the arrival of paddy at Bhagatwala Mandi was high and directed the concerned authorities to ensure cleanliness at Bhagatwala Mandi and repair the roads leading to the mandi.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the police officers to prepare their plan for smooth flow of traffic during the arrival of paddy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that control rooms should be set up at the District Administrative Complex and District Food and Supplies Department during the paddy season so that the farmers could contact the control room in case of any difficulty.
District Food and Supplies Officer Mr. Rajarishi said that this time the target is to procure 34% paddy from Pungren, 26% from Markfed, 22 percent from PUNSUP, 13 percent from Warehouse and five percent from FCI. Has been determined. He said that all arrangements for the procurement of paddy have been completed by the department and the farmers would not be allowed to face any difficulty.
